Germicidal UV Air Purifiers
Ultraviolet (UV) light has been proven to kill a large variety of different microorganisms, such as viruses, bacteria, fungi, spores and mold. UV air purifiers have been used for years in hospitals to sanitize the air and to prevent the spread of illness and diseases.
UV lamps in air purifiers use a cold-cathode lamp (CCL) technology that is more powerful and lasts longer than other UV lamps. Often, another purification technology is also used in the air purifier, such as a HEPA filter. The UV lamp also sanitizes the filter in this case.
Note: The U.S. Centers of Disease Control (CDC) recommends the use of air purifiers that use both HEPA Filter and UV lamp and HEPA filter technologies for the best combination of trapping and destroying microbes.
